This kind of shoes ________ (sell) well.
Is it "sells" or "sell" ? Which is the subject of the sentence, "this kind" or "shoes" ? Thanks for help!

this kind of shoe
these kinds of shoes

Where did you find that question? As you can see from Phaedrus' response, "This kind of shoes" is incorrect.

this kind of shoe
these kinds of shoes
Then does "this kind of shoe" refer to a single shoe or shoes of one kind? And is it right to say "the shoes of a/one kind"?
I'm always confused by the use of "kind" in this meaning.

From some very common English exercises for students in junior school in my country, which always confuses me.
