Hello.

Are the following sentences grammatically correct?

-"This painting is about a town at night with dark lines that reflect the night over the city, illuminated by a light blue sky. It means to me that even some things in life may be very hard, there will always be hope", analyzed Tim.

Thanks.

Yes, the grammar seems to be just fine. But I can't help wondering what a town with dark lines is.

"This painting is about a town at night with dark lines [STRIKE]that reflect[/STRIKE] representing the night over the city illuminated by a light blue sky. [STRIKE]It means[/STRIKE] To me, it means that even if some things in life may be very hard, there will always be hope", [STRIKE]analyzed[/STRIKE] reflected Tim.

Dear Tarheel and teechar:

First of all, thanks for all your help.

The context is the following:

Tim received the red folder and looked at a color print-out of the painting “Starry Night” by Vincent Van Gogh. After a few seconds of staring it, he spoke to his classmates.

-"This painting is about a town at night with dark lines that reflect the night over the city, illuminated by a light blue sky. It means to me that even some things in life may be very hard, there will always be hope", analyzed Tim.

*Tim is a young student, aged 14 years old.

Thanks.

Say:

After a few seconds of looking at it....

Tim uses idiosyncratic language. (He knows what he means, but nobody else does.)

I still don't know what dark lines are, nor do I see how they can reflect anything. And how can a city at night be illuminated by a light blue sky?

(Tim left out a word. Do you know what it is?)

I would say that a painting if of something, not about something.
In "Starry, Starry Night", I'd assume the stars have something to do with the light, given their size. A light blue sky cannot illuminate anything. Whatever is illuminating the night sky is also illuminating the town.

Dear Tarheel and Raymontt:

Thanks for your help.

Tarheel you are right.

I do not know what means Tim left out a word

Is related with the idiosyncratic language?

Thanks!

Tim should have used "even if some things" as teechar has corrected in #3.

I was thinking of "though" but "if" works there too.
