Hello, teachers and kind helpers there. I am trying to find meaning difference between 'thinking and thought' as a noun. And referring to Longman dictionary, there are similar or the same parts and different parts in meaning and function. so sometimes it is okay to say either of them interchangeably? Thank you as usual and I really hope to hear from you.

Your question is not very specific. However, here's a sentence in which "thinking" is not a good substitute for "thought":

It was just a thought (not "thinking"), Duncan. I didn’t mean any offence.
