I'm trying to write a script.

Dan comes through some bushes and out onto a small path, and looks through the cracks of a wooden fence into the backyard of a house. There's a light on inside the house.

Question: Is the bold-faced sentence okay? Do I need anything between 'fence' and 'into'? Maybe:

...and peers through the cracks of a wooden fence looking into the backyard of a house. ?

There's no need for an extra word. "Peers" means "looks". In this case, "peers into" is separated by some additional information.

and peers [through the cracks of a wooden fence] into the backyard of a house.
