What is the meaning of below sentence?
"To get started, use the following geometric primitives for points and axis-aligned rectangles in the plane."

A big part of meaning is compositional. That means that if you know the meaning of each element in a sentence, you can put it all together and find the meaning of the whole sentence. So tell us which bits you don't understand. For example, do you have any idea what a geometric primitive is? If not, why are you reading this?

Also, always give us the context of anything you ask about, and equally importantly, tell us where you saw or heard the sentence or paragraph that you want to ask about.

This one : "for points and axis-aligned rectangles in the plane."

Do you know what a point is? Do you know what a rectangle is? Do you know what a plane is? Do you know what axis alignment is?

Why are you reading this? Are you doing this actual exercise? Why? Where did you see this sentence?

Please try a bit harder to improve your questions. Thank you.

I cannot understand axis "alignment".

What is the meaning of below the sentence below?
Note the correct way to formulate your question. Also note that I have changed your thread title. Titles should be unique, relevant only to your thread, and include some/all of the words/sentences you're asking us about.

It's disheartening to me that somebody would say they can't understand something at the same time that they're asking for help in understanding it.

Hi,
Your problem, partly, stems from the fact that you are not familiar with the subject that you study.
Everything is explained here.
Use the immutable data type Point2D.java (part of algs4.jar) for points in the plane.
Use the immutable data type RectHV.java(not part of algs4.jar) for axis-aligned rectangles. Here is the subset of its API that you may use:
Also take a look at Axis-aligned object.

What is the subject that is being studied?

@Madman1981 You missed my point entirely. The phrase should be "the subject you are studying".
