Does the expression "to take distance from a problem", meaning to "take a step back", exist?

There is no such expression as "to take distance from something". I've never heard it. Where did you see it? You might see "to distance yourself from something" which would probably mean "to take a step back from something" - possibly as large a step as possible, but it's usually metaphorical, not physical.
