Hi folks,

Could anybody tell me what “(the) Tonto of the group” means in the following dialogue? It’s from The Golden Girls Series 2 Episode 2. It’s a scene where there are only three tickets to a party and Sophia is being left out. Does it have anything to do with Tonto in The Lone Ranger?

Blanche: Sophia, honey...
Sophia: Oh, no. Not this time. I'm tired of being the Tonto of the group.
Blanche: I tried to get another ticket but I couldn’t.

Yes. "Tonto" was the Lone Ranger's sidekick. He supported the Ranger's activities but rarely took the initiative.

Unless the name is qualified as in "teething biscuits", American biscuits are cousins to scones. They're typically pastier and not my favorite things. A popular breakfast dish in southeastern American country cooking is "sausage gravy and biscuits", often known as "biscuits and gravy". This consists of fat mixed with milk and flour poured over flour mixed with milk and fat.

Sidemeat's biscuits have served as projectiles to get the Riders out of many a scrape over the years.
