l'm up to my elbows.when is it used?
 
When you are almost, but not quite, up to your neck.
 
It could mean that you're very busy- I'm up to my elbows in work.

It reminds me of: When you're up to your ass in alligators, it is difficult to remember that the original objective was to drain the swamp. :lol:
