Is the sentence : "The woman insisted that the lost child were taken to store's information desk so his parents could be paged." grammatically correct.
 
Is the sentence : "The woman insisted that the lost child were taken to store's information desk so his parents could be paged." grammatically correct.
No.

"The woman insisted that the lost child be taken to store's information desk so his parents could be paged."

In BrE we are more likely to use 'was' or 'should be'
