Hello.

When writing a question for business administration students, Which is the suitable phrase?

1-"Used to" plus an infinitive verb.
2-"Used for" plus a noun.
3-"Used when" plus a noun.

The following sentences are examples.

1-The expression "see you soon" is used to say goodbye.
2-The expression "see you soon" is used for saying goodbye.
3-The expression "see you soon" is used when saying goodbye.

I'm puzzled, I think there are more than one option I can choose.

I teach at business administration department and I have to write the questions in English. This is why I posted thread. May I ask if number two and three are grammatical?

Number 3 doesn't make sense. The utterance is the saying goodbye, not something you say when you say goodbye. " Number 2 is grammatical and makes sense but doesn't work quite as well. Use sentence 1.

I'm puzzled. I think there are is more than one correct option. I can choose.
Note my corrections above.
With my changes, both #1 and #3 are OK. #2 isn't natural with "for saying".

I still don't really understand what the purpose is. You haven't written a question that appears to be aimed at business admin students. You've asked us a question.
