Hello.

When should I use linking words with comma and with a full stop?

1-My friend was feeling ill, however, he went to work.
2-My friend was feeling ill. However, he went to work.

I get confused whether I should use comma or a full stop.

Hello. Unnecessary. Just go ahead with your question. Save space!

When should I use linking words with a comma and with a full stop?

1 - My friend was feeling ill, however, he went to work. ❌
2 - My friend was feeling ill. However, he went to work. ✅

I get confused as to whether I should use a comma or a full stop.
Note my corrections and comments above. As a general rule, as a learner, don't try to put "however" in the middle of a sentence. It can be done but it doesn't work in your example above. You're trying to use it in place of "but" and that doesn't work.

To use your context, you'd still need two sentences but "however" could be used in the middle of one of them. This is how it would look:

My friend was feeling ill. He did, however, go to work.

Thank you.

Are the following sentences correct?

The first two sentences are two contrasting sentences connected by semicolon. In the last two sentences I used however in the middle of the sentence.

1- My friend was feeling ill; however, he went to work.
2- I was going to travel by car; however, I stayed at a motel in the middle of the road.
3- I don't have a computer to send the report. You, however, can send the files on your account.
4- I didn't bring the homework. I could, however, send it to your email.
