Hello,

I am looking for a word/expression to describe a person who is waiting impatiently for the right moment to attack sombody. (In wars for example)

Thank you in advance.

"to wait in anticipation"
but the common expressions that describe the feeling are probably : "on edge" and "jittery"

Hope it's useful

How about 'He waited, poised, tense'?

See also lurk.

PS: I understand "lurk" does not imply impatience, but it does convey the meaning "waiting to attack".
