[Grammar] want + obj + to infinitive vs want + obj + v-ing

1) I do not want a load of traffic going past my house all night.

2) I do not want a load of traffic to go past my house all night.

What is the difference between the two sentences? do the two sentences carry the same meanings? which one is formal in english?

There is no difference between the two sentences. They mean exactly the same. "To go" is slightly more formal - but "a load of traffic" is very informal!! Better to say "a lot of traffic"
