Hello,

*self-made*

- I was had to write that story again.

I want to ask if the sentence is grammatically OK or not.

Thank you!

I think it would be OK without 'was', but I am not a teacher.

It wouldn't sound right in the present tense either:

I am have to write that story again.

@ademoglu: Matthew is right. Your sentence would be grammatical without "was."

"I had to write that story again."

I think the following is possible, but the meaning is different.
'I was to write that story again.'

Not a teacher.

I was made/forced/compelled to write that story again.

:)

I think the meaning is very different, but I am not a teacher.

Well, my guess is that the OP was trying to express his/her idea by using the passive voice.

:)

If your guess was correct, I would give another example sentence in the passive.
'I was paid to write that story again.'

Not a teacher.

Yes, that's possible.
However, your sentence doesn't include the idea of 'have to'. What do you think?

:)

I think the speaker had to write it after being paid, but I am not a teacher.

We need to know the OP's intended meaning.
Do you agree with me?

:-D

I agree, but I am not a teacher.
