Hello teachers,

Greetings!

I have a question on tense form today. Here is the sentence:

It was the first time in history that a chair in Anthrozoology was installed in a Psychology department, allowing the two foundational fields of many animal-assisted interventions to truly blend together at the academic level.

Actually, I have 2 questions:

  1. Is the tense form in the original correct? I feel so, but I am not sure.
  2. Does the sentence require past perfect tense (had been installed)? If yes, could you please explain why?

Thank you for your patience.

Thank you very much, Mr. Piscean, for your explanation. I appreciate it very much.

And thank you for the suggestion as well.

LaMelange, you probably know by now that we'd prefer you to press the Thanks button than write an otherwise empty post. I think I speak for the large majority of regular responders here.
