"A well-engineered product or process accomplishes its allotted task through simple design, easy operation, moderate cost, infrequent maintenance, and long life."

What does "well-engineered" mean above? I think its not a common word I couldn't find a definition for it.

Thank you.

It was engineered well. Good and sound engineering was involved in the production of the product.

"Well-engineered" isn't a phrase I'd expect to find in a dictionary. It's a compound adjective which could, for example, contrast with "poorly-engineered" or "badly-engineered".

You form this kind of adjective by placing an adverb before an adjective and joining the words with a hyphen. For example:

The Prius is extremely well engineered. It's a well-engineered car.

It was engineered well. Good and sound engineering was involved in the production of the product.

What are some features of well-engineered things?

Thank you.

"A well-engineered product...".

Stop there and read the rest of your passage.

That remainder is exactly what the author was trying to tell you. In his or her opinion, those are the attributes of a well-engineered product.

From above, I think it means well-engineered=of good quality.

Thank you.
