Which one is correct?
1. I would rather he went to school rather go home.
2. I would rather he went to school than went home.

Yes, you seem to have used a word you didn't mean to use in sentence 1.

Anyway, it doesn't matter because sentence 2 is the correct one. You should keep both verbs in the same tense.
