- What did you do when your wife told you about her love affair?
(possible answers)
I killed her,
I divorced her

VS

What were you doing when your wife told you about her love affair?
(possible answers)
I was driving home
I was at the door
I was listening to music.

Could you tell me if these sentence are correct?

They will be correct sentences if you end them all with a full stop.

Thank you very much for the answer.
Would someone be so kind to write additional examples in a similar way to the ones above (contrasting Simple Past vs Simple Past Continuous changing only tenses, and not the rest of sentence)

We don't do the writing for you.
