Hello

What does " in one place" in this sentence mean:

An old French textbook had a piece about a lawsuit concerning an inheritance of considerable value. Someone had bequeathed a certain sum to two nephews. The will had been folded when the ink was still wet, so that a number of small ink-blots had appeared in the text, in one place, the text could read either as deux "two" or d'eux "each of them"

Thank You

The "one place" is the location in the text of the now-abiguous word: either deux or d'eux.

There should be a semi-colon before "in one place", not a comma.
