I don't understand the meaning of the following sentence. It's a Joshua Reynolds quote. Please help me, ladies and gentlemen.

"There is no expedient to which a man will not resort to avoid the real labor of thinking."

A man will try everything to avoid thinking, because thinking is tiring.
