Hello!

I want to say "I know that both expressions exist. What about their meaning? Do they convey two different ideas?"
Is it possible to say "What about their meaning"? Can I also say "How about their meaning?"

Thank you in advance!

Certainly both expressions exist in natural speech. The difference in meaning is subtle. In AmE I would say that "what about" demands a more serious response than "how about". You can say "How about those (pick a professional sports team)" without expecting any serious response.
