When we talk about ex-wives or ex girlfrriends do we you past tense or present tense?

e.g. My ex wife was/is a really good person. AND My ex wife was/is from Germany.

If you believe her to be a very good person, even today, I would use "is". I would use "is" in the second. She will always be "from Germany".

I am not a teacher.

I agree with Mike for the first part.

For the second, I agree with the logic of saying "is" but if I had no further contact with her I would probably say "was".

Mike, you could just use a 'like' to show your agreement. That would save us coming in to the thread only to find that nothing new has been said.
