What's the difference in meaning between the following sentences? Do they both sound natural?

1- When you are making cranberry jam, be sure to use as much sugar as fruit.

2- When you make cranberry jam, be sure to use as much sugar as fruit.
 
They mean the same thing. And they are both natural.
