[Grammar] wherever or everywhere

Please check out the following sentences. Which is better?

(1) This recorder is only ten centimeters, so you can take it everywhere you go.
(2) This recorder is only ten centimeters, so you can take it wherever you go.
 
I am not a teacher, but both sentences sound fine to me. I really can't pick out which one is "better".

Note that in English, a recorder can refer to a musical instrument similar to a flute which our children learn to play in school so they can practice at home and drive their parents crazy.
