Hello,

Which one is correct?

.

1. I haven't studied English for five years. (ago)

Can I say:
I studied English five years ago.

1. He travelled to Aswan last year and he is still there. (since)

He has gone to Aswan since 2011.

2. She visited Luxor and returned. (She has)

She has been to Luxor.

3. I visited Luxor two years ago. (since)

It is two years since I have visited Luxor.

I have visited Luxor since 2010. ( I don't know whether I say I have or I haven't)

4. It began to rain in the morning and it is still raining. (all day)

It has been raining all day.

1. He travelled to Aswan last year and he is still there. (since)

He has gone to Aswan since 2011. Incorrect.

2. She visited Luxor and returned. (She has)

She has been to Luxor. Correct, as is "She has visited ..."

3. I visited Luxor two years ago. (since)

It is two years since I have visited Luxor. Incorrect.

I have visited Luxor since 2010. ( I don't know whether I say I have or I haven't) For this word construction, it would be "I haven't been to Luxor since 2010" but that doesn't mean the same thing as "I visited Luxor two years ago".

4. It began to rain in the morning and it is still raining. (all day)

It has been raining all day. Correct.

See above.

He has gone to Aswan since 2011. Incorrect.
Why?
Can I say: He has travelled to Aswan since 2011.

Why?
Can I say: He has travelled to Aswan since 2011.

You can say that, it's perfectly grammatical, but it doesn't mean the same as "He travelled to Aswan last year and he is still there" if you are still trying to answer #1.

So, what is the most suitable answer for no.1?

Try starting with "He has been..."

Now change your preposition.

He has been in Aswan since 2011.

??

but the original question was:

He travelled to Aswan last year and
he is still there. (since)

He has gone to Aswan since 2011. (I believe that is correct.)

but if the the original question is:

He travelled to Aswan last year and returned. (since)

He has been to Aswan since 2011.

and this is how this sentence differs from that sentence in the meaning.

He has gone to Aswan since 2011. He has been to Aswan since 2011.

If he went to Aswan in 2011 and he is still there then the following sentence is true: "He is [currently] in Aswan". Do you see that that is correct?

Yes, I got it.
So,
He travelled to Aswan last year and he is still there. (since)

Two correct answers:

He has been in Aswan since 2011.
He has gone to Aswan since 2011.

No. Only the first says he is still there.

What about this:
Paul has gone to the hospital this morning (= he is still there).
Paul has been to the hospital this morning (= he went and has come back).

Yes, I got it.
So,
He travelled to Aswan last year and he is still there. (since)

Two correct answers:

He has been in Aswan since 2011.
He has gone to Aswan since 2011.

He has gone to Aswan since 2011 = Since January 1st 2011 he has, at some unspecified date/time, travelled to Aswan. It could have been yesterday that he travelled there. If that were the case, then "He travelled to Aswan last year and is still there" would not be true.
