I want to know which one is correct.
1. You need not to worry about him.
2. You need not worry above him.

You don't need to worry about him.
You need not worry about him.

Please note that "please" is a well-used word in English.

Welcome to the forums, faisaljan.:)

Please note that better title would have been You need not to worry about him.

Extract from the Posting Guidelines:

'Thread titles should include all or part of the word/phrase being discussed.'

I never participated at any forum before therefore your Guidelines are always needed. I will improve my thread titles next time. thanks

Sorry that I failed to notice that that was your first post or I would have welcomed you as well. :hi:

In sentence #2, as well as changing "to worry" to "worry", you changed "about" to "above". Was that an accident?

the real sentence was " You need not to worry above him" which appears in examination which I was taken recently. I am aware of that if "Need"comes in a sentence as a verb then we don"t need to put "to" in that sentence, but I did not change "above".

In that case there was an error in the original exam question. "You need not worry above him" is not a grammatical English sentence. It has no meaning.

I had been assuming it was an auto-correct error.

I think these words bid, would rather, had better, make, let, hear, behold also does not take "to" after them, Right?

Similarly "My parents made me to promise to write them once a week"

Yes, it should be "My parents made me promise ...". Note that in BrE, it would go on to say "... to write to them once a week". In AmE, that "to" before "them" can be omitted.

NOTE: This post has been edited after my typo was pointed out. I have amended it to avoid confusion.

I have posted other threads as well. If I failed to give a suitable title then please guide me.

Your other threads had good titles.:-D

In AmE, that "to" before "write" can be omitted.

I'm sure you meant "In AmE, that "to" before "them" can be omitted.":-D

You are absolutely right. To avoid confusion, I have edited that reply and explained my edit.
