If he did not run into/onto the road, he would not be injured / would not have been injured.

Which word/s should I use?

Thanks.

NOT A TEACHER.

If he had not run onto the road, he would not be injured.

As I suggested the last time you asked this question, "If he hadn't run into the road, he wouldn't have been injured".

Why "into"? How does one run into a road and get hurt?

I thought the threadstarter was trying to say that the person ran onto the road and got hit by a car.

In BrE we say "into the road" where those of the North American persuasion tend to use "onto the road".;-)

Please don't post the same question more than once. Thanks.

Sorry, Tdol. When I discovered that I had posted twice, I tried to delete one of the posts. However, I was unable to. Is there a way to do so?

Click on "Edit" in the bottom, right hand corner of your post, you will find several options one of which is "delete", click on this and follow the instructions.

I'll leave them both up as there are answers in both threads.

We switched the delete function off because some people were deleting whole threads that had a lot of answers in them, which people who'd spent time answering found annoying and rude.

If you do need something deleting, just send a message to a moderator and they can do it. ;-)
