Support Race???

What's the meaning of "Support Races" in car racing?
Is it the same as pre-race or warming race?
Please clarify the difference of these 3 words.

This is a question for the car race fans or experts as it seems to have little to do with English itself.
You do understand each of these words taken separately, don't you?
If you're into car racing, you should probably know what they are referring to.

Yes, I understand each word separately though my English is rather poor. Anyway, I'm not the sportcar driver or even fan or expert of car racing.
So, what I want is the help of Englisn or car racing experts or fans. :?::?::?:

I couldn't find the meaning of "Support Race" in any sources.
I understood that this means the pre-race setting up before the real comming up program.
Or is it the selected round? Or warm-up round?
What's the differece of these words?
