[Grammar] Why is it said "How I met your mother"

Hello,
my question is simple but I would appreciate your answers a lot!
I heard of the expression "How I met your mother". And I was just wondering whether it should be "How did I meet your mother?".
Please let me know how I can make the difference.

No, it's not a question. It precedes an explanation of how they met. In full it would be "I am going to tell you how I met your mother."
