Girl: Did you go on a date with a girl?

Boy: Yes, I did.

Girl: Did you?Are you serious?

Boy: Yes. I'm always honest.

Girl: You are not! if I had never asked you, would have never told me. You told me that you went on a date only because I asked you! What if I didn't ask you? Is the bold part correct?

I am not sure which one is correct?
If I didn't ask you, you wouldn't tell me!
If I had never asked you, would have never told me.

Did you write this dialogue yourself, it-is-niaz?

If I didn't ask you, you wouldn't tell me!:tick:

If I had never asked you
, would [STRIKE]have[/STRIKE] never have told me.

Yes. I made it up. Sometimes I imagine a situation and then try to say it in English. Isn't it a good way to learn English?

I still don't know what is the difference between these two sentences.

If I didn't ask you, you wouldn't tell me!

If I had never asked you
, you would never have told me.

In the second sentence, you have been told. We don't know whether you've been told in the first.

Yes, but please tell us it's your own writing so that we're not wondering if it's something you read somewhere.

Thank you.

PS Welcome back, Goes Station.:hi:

I agree entirely that "If I didn't ask you, you would never tell me" is a grammatical sentence. However, in the original context of this thread, in BrE, only "If I hadn't asked you, you would never have told me" would be used.
