youtube footage

I have heard many times that the 'videos' on youtube aren't called videos but footages, is that true? After consulting many dictionaries, the word footage does not make me think of Youtube videos.

Can we call these videos? clips? what else?

To use the word "footage" instead of "video clip" is not correct, nor is saying "two footages" as footage is not a count noun. Footage is referred to as "some footage", "the footage" or "lots of footage" (I can't think of any others).

:up: Another case - like 'off the hook' etc - of a figurative usage reflecting an obselete technology. Most 'footage' is in fact digital, so 'feet of video-tape' aren't relevant.
