Cambridge B2 First informal emails error correction pairwork

Student A version

Work in pairs with at least one Student A and one Student B per group. Without showing your worksheets to each other, find places where the two texts are different, decide which is the correct version each time, then change yours if you think it is wrong. If they are both the same, there is no mistake in that part.

Dear Mr Bob

It was great to hear from you. I’d be very happy to help with your project. Can you find my answers below?

In answer to your first question, my first ever job was as a paperboy. That means someone who delivers newspapers to people’s houses.

You also asked me about the timing of that job. In the UK you can do some part-time jobs when you are 13 years old, so I started then. I did it for just under a year, working six days a week before school.

Turn our attention to what it taught me, I think the main thing was that bosses often exploit workers, as I was only paid one pound per week! Since then, I have never trusted companies and managers to give workers what they deserve.

Furthermore as for difficulties I experienced, the main issues were cycling in the dark winter mornings with sleepy eyes and dealing with aggressive dogs. I once crashed my bike into a parked car, and once got bitten by a dog when the owner left the door open!

Hope that helps with your project. If you need any more questions, just drop me a line.

Best

Alex

Hint: There are the same number of mistakes in each version, so make sure you have each made five changes.

Check as a class or with the key.
