I wish If only sentence completion games

Do the activity below that your teacher tells you to. When your teacher stops you, ask about any sentences which you don’t understand, are not sure you completed properly, etc, working together as a class to complete the sentences each time. Then do a different activity below.

Activity 1: I wish If only sentence completion guessing game

Complete at least half the sentences below with something that you really think. When there is more than one option (e.g. both “had” and “hadn’t”), cross out the one that you don’t want to use.

Choose one of the sentences that you have completed and read out just the part you have written (not the part that is already printed there), and see if your partner can guess which sentence you wrote that in. Then take turns doing the same.

Activity 2: I wish If only sentence completion bluffing game

Complete the sentence that your partner chooses for you as fast as you can, using your imagination if you can’t quickly think of anything true. After asking up to three follow-up questions, they will guess if your sentence is true or not. Then take turns doing the same.

Activity 3: I wish If only sentence completion things in common

Try to make sentences which are true for both you and your partner using the sentences below, e.g. “I wish I had chosen…” “Me too”.

Share one thing you found in common and see if that is the same for anyone else in the class.
