Is and are with prepositions Xmas drawing game

Instructions for teachers

This game can be played with students crossing off the nouns below as they use them to make sentences, but is easier and more fun with cut-up cards. Cut up one set of cards per group of two to six students, discarding any nouns and prepositions which you don’t want to practise. The noun cards given before and after the verb are probably easiest to use in that order but can be used either way, so there is no need to divide them up.

Students make sentences from the cards for their partner to draw, with sensible combinations and crazy combinations both okay, as long as they can be drawn.

Variations include students making sentences that they will draw themselves, making sentences that everyone will compete to make the best drawing for, and drawing a sentence they secretly made for others to guess.

When they finish, ask them to describe the pictures as they are erased off the board or ticked on their paper.
