Is there are there Xmas drawing coin game

Take turns asking Yes/ No questions about what you should draw in a Xmas scene with questions like those below. Your partner will flip a coin to see if you should draw that thing or not, with the sides of the coin meaning:

  • heads = Yes there is./ Yes, there are.
  • tails = No, there isn’t./ No, there aren’t.

When your teacher stops the game, ask about anything you don’t understand, couldn’t draw, etc.

Put one word into each gap, with the same word in the two gaps on the same line:

Is __________________ an angel?/ Yes, ____________ is./ No, _____________ isn’t./ _______________ is an angel.

________________ there a Xmas cake?/ Yes, there _________./ There ________________ a Xmas cake.

_______________ there any Xmas cards?/ Yes, there __________./ There _____________ some Xmas cards.

_______________ there any candy?/ Yes, there ___________./ There ________________ some candy.

Is there _______________ Xmas tree?/ There is ______________ Xmas tree.

Are there ________________ decorations?/ There aren’t ____________ decorations.

Is there _________________ music?/ There isn’t ____________________ music.

Check as a class, then answer these questions:

  • What kind of words go with “Are there any …?”/ “There are some…”
  • What kind of words go with “Is there any…?”/ “There is some…”

Look at another group’s picture and try to describe it. You get one point for each true sentence, including true negative sentences.

Close your eyes and answer yes/ no questions about your own picture.
