Pronouncing the alphabet questions dice game

Personal questions dice game

Roll a dice then ask a question including a word starting with a letter from that line below, e.g. ask “Do you have a hat?” if you roll 1 and choose “H” from that line. Then take turns doing the same.

  1. /ei/ like “day”: A, H, J, K
  2. /i:/ like “see”: B, C, D, E, G, P, T, V, (Z)
  3. /e/ like “egg”: F, L, M, N, S, X, (Z)
  4. /ai/ like “hi”: I, Y
  5. /O/ like “no” O or /a:/ like “car”: R
  6. /u:/ like “you”: Q, U, W

Pronunciation presentation and practice

Why are the words arranged in that way above? How are the words on each line the same as each other?

Work together to pronounce all the letters above, making sure that the ones on the same line have similar pronunciations.

Why is “Z” in two different places above? What are the two different pronunciations of “Z” with sounds that match those two places?
