Word stress - Storytelling game

Instructions for teachers and students

Take turns continuing a story with one sentence. When it is your turn, choose one of the word stress cards, choose a word related to the story with that word stress pattern, put it into a sentence, and say that sentence to continue the story. Then take turns doing the same, using one card below each time. Your teacher will tell you:

  • if you should use the starting sentence that they give you or if you can start the story how you like
  • if you can tell any genre of story or if you should tell the genre of story that they tell you
  • if you can pick any card you like each time, or if you should pick at random
  • if you can end the story whenever you get to a good ending or if you should continue until they tell you to bring it to an end
  • if you can use a dictionary etc to help or if you should try with no help

Possible genres: romance, fairytale, sci fi, action/ adventure, fantasy, spy, crime
