Dear Mrs. xxxx,
How are you?
I want to give you a heads-up that my son ____ won’t be able to take piano lessons on the last week of November and the month of December, 2009. Our family will go to _____ for Thanksgiving and Christmas. We will be back on January 2, 2010 and I would like _____ to continue his lesson starting on January, 2010.
Please also let me know if _____ (____'s sister) can start her lesson on January, 2010 as well.
Thank you and have a great day!
Best regards,
Sky19

I think it's quite well written, I made some small corrections, but generally it seems ok.

Thanks so much for your help wise owl ! The reason I put for instead of on before "Thanksgiving and Christmas" in my sentence because we are going there from before thanksgiving until after Christmas. I thought on is used if I go on that Thanksgiving day and again on Christmas day...Please advice, should I use on or for?
Thanks again and have a nice day!

Hi,
Now that I think of it again, I think "for" is quite possible as well, better leave it as is. I also recalled a Christmas song named "I'll be home for Christmas" :) (though songs authors don't always follow grammar rules, this one seems to be correct )
Here are some general examples with "on" and "for":
- I go on vacation.
- I go for a holiday.
- I will be on holiday from... till...
