hi... happy new year everybody.. i AM A new member from iraq. i speak Arabic.in Arabic to greet someone we say "alsalam alikum" "السلام عليكم" this is for formal and informal use. but also use "Marhaba" "مرحبا" for informal greeting..in iraq we men meet and sit together the first expression they use when a new person entered the room or the place where they are sitting-not a condition to be a stranger- whoever enters- they say "Allah Bil-kheer" "الله بالخير" .it equalls "hello"..
thats all what i have... wish u the best

Ciao sadaf,

here is the Italian version:
"Ciao, lieto di vederti qui" or "Ciao, č bello vederti qui" or "Ciao, č un piacere vederti qui"

there might also be a different translation:
"Ciao, lieto di vedervi qui" or "Ciao, č bello vedervi qui" or "Ciao, č un piacere vedervi qui"
as "you" can be both second person singular and plural in Italian.

I think you meant the former though.
Ciao again.

hi all,
i'm from shanghai china. i noticed that a guy named wuwei is from shanghai too, and he/she has posted a greeting in simplied chinese. i'll use traditional chinese to express 'hello, nice to meet you'.
“您好,遇見您很高興”
and “您” is a formal form of “你” with 'you' in english
