| well.... usually when you start a formal letter, you have to state the purpose of your letter.... by saying.... I am writing to.... or I am writing in connection with/to... and you have to say why you are writing in the first paragrahp... and then is when you develop the ideas.... |

| If you do not wish to use the pronoun I then you can say something like: This letter is to inform you that...etc. |
