Default Answer to a rejection letter

I recently applied to a university, but unfortunately I was rejected, without an interview. Since the rejection letter was quite vague on the reasons, which led to my rejection, I am thinking of sending a letter to the university, asking for feedback. But since this letter is actually an answer to a rejection letter, I have to be very discreet. Unfortunately I wasn't able to find a sample of that specific type of letter.
Therefore any help is more than welcome, especially if it involves the style of the letter, or phrases which may be useful.

I beforehand thank

Tzoyia

Thank you so much concern. I have already written a letter, based on the pattern, which so kindly suggested:

I received with regret your letter dated 9 April 2008 informing me of your rejection of my application for admission to MSt in Creative Writing.

Since I considered myself as a person that could respond to the demands and criteria of the program with ease, I was quite surprised by the final outcome.

Would you most kindly provide me with more specific information, regarding the rejection of my application?

Looking forward to hearing from you on an urgent basis, I remain

Yours Truly

Once again. any comments, corrections or even alterations are more than welcome.

If so, then "Dear Dr/Prof./Mr./Ms [surname]; if not then address it to the Director of Applications >> Dear Sir/Madam,

Since I considered myself as a person who would cope well with the demands and criteria of the program, I was quite surprised by the final outcome.
