Central Asian Republics include Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan, Although all of them are important for India from the perspective of trade, security, energy security, civilisational link, but the ones particularly important are Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Tajikistan.

1) What does
ones mean in this context?(My doubt is that can(or should) ones be used with plurals?.

2) Shouldn't the punctuation be full stop instead of comma before the word Although?

1 It refers to the Cental Asian Republics. Yes, it can be plural.
2 Yes, it should be a period/full stop.

Hello.:-D

"Although all of them are important for India from the perspective of trade, security, energy security, civilisational link, [STRIKE]but [/STRIKE]the
ones particularly important are Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Tajikistan."

"but" should be deleted in my opinion.

(Edit) Or "[STRIKE]Although[/STRIKE] All of them are important for India from the perspective of trade, security, energy security, civilisational link, but the ones particularly important are Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Tajikistan."

No, the "but" draws the contrast in the importance. If you delete the "but" you drop the contrast and you also have a comma splice.

The sentence could be improved with a "that are" after "ones."

I was not familiar with "(Al)though...but...".
And thank you for the word "comma splice". I've just learned a new expression.:-D

I hate to disagree with Barb, I don't like the use of "Although" and "but" in that sentence. One or the other, yes.

"Although they are all important, but the most important ones are a, b and c" is not at all natural.

I agree with ems. I think Barb misread something there.

Oops. Hope the crow has been properly seasoned. I managed to miss the "Although" entirely.

You are, of course, correct and I was quite wrong.

My only excuse is that I'm on the phone and it's hard to see it all at once but I should have tried harder before telling someone else that they were wrong.

Then, is that the original unnatural?

I'm afraid to even answer, but yes. You don't want both "Although" and "but."

Post #3 gives an excellent answer showing both acceptable versions.
