Hello.

The other day, my American friend had a birthday. It was "29th Birthday again."
She is in her 40s. What does this mean??

Some women stop counting when they reach 29. Every birthday after that is another 29th birthday. It's a humorous way of pretending that they are not growing older.

Ahem. That's not confined to women, I'll have you know!

I was referring to the word 'again'. I have had a 59th birthday for the past seven years, but I don't claim that it's happening again each time. I just let everyone imagine that it's the first time.

;-)

My mom is more original in this respect. She claims to be fifty-fourteen (esp. when talking to kids, so they have to practise their adding abilities ;-))

After a certain age 39 becomes a more plausible number.

Thank you very much everyone. So I will have my 29th birthday again next week!
