Hello.
In this example is ''the'' used because the month isn't mentioned? ''Her birthday is on the 29th''.

Mentioning the month doesn't make any difference.

Her birthday is on the 29th.
Her birthday is on the 29th of March.

Bear in mind that you might see "Her birthday is on 29th March" in writing (no "the" and no "of") but it would still be spoken aloud as "the 29th of March".

I mean if they included the month in their example with ''the'' in writing that would have made the sentence wrong. I didn't state my question clearly.

Like this ''Her birthday is on the 29th March.''

If they had used "the" but not "of", it would have been incorrect.

In writing: Her birthday is on the 29th.
In writing: Her birthday is on 29th March.
Spoken: Her birthday is on the 29th of March.

They're OK. I don't think that the distinction between writing and speaking is necessary- you could write and say them all for me.

In writing: Her birthday is on the 29th. OK if the reader understood the month.
In writing: Her birthday is on 29th March. "...is on the 29th of March" or "is on March 29th".
Spoken: Her birthday is on the 29th of March.
OK.
Usual AmE.

"...is on the 29th of March" or "is on March 29th".

In BrE, we would use "... is on March the 29th".
