Dear teachers,
Would you tell me whether the given below usages of phrasal verb “turn in” are common in your area?
I want you to turn in a good history paper.
When the football season was over, we turned in our uniforms.
turn in = hand in = to give to someone; deliver to someone
"Why should I turn in my homework? He doesn't grade it for about a week, anyway."
"He says your homework is due on a certain day and then he lets people turn it in later.
turn in one's homework = give one's homework for inspection
She turned them in to the police for breaking the street light.
turn in = to inform on; report
They turned in their old money for new.
turn in = to give in return for something
We were tired, so we turned in about nine o'clock.
turn in = to go to bed
Thanks for your efforts.
Regards,
V.
