Hello, everyone,
I realize that my question is not quite for this forum, but here I always get very useful advice, so could you recommend me a popular English song known by many people, a song which "unites" people and can be sung in chorus at the end of the Festival of the English language that we are going to hold (Everyone stands up and sings this song at the end of the event.). It shouldn't be too complicated, too sad or slow, neither should it be too fast. And teenagers and younger children should like it.

Could you please recommend something? :?:

Thank you in advance!

We Will Rock You by Queen. Even if they can't sing along or don't know the words, they can still do the stamp, stamp, clap routine!

Thank you, but it seems a little "rough" to me. Perhaps you could recommend something more "romantic", so that all people felt they are a big family, if you know what I mean (a sense of belonging). There'll be kids (9-10 years old) and teenagers at the festival.

We Are The Champions? By Queen!!! Sorry about the pattern emerging here but the kind of song you are referring to where everyone joins in and sings along at the end of a show or a festival is generally known as an anthem, and Queen were fantastic at them! I don't really think the age of the participants matters. Or did you mean that they will all be 9-10-year-olds and teenagers? I thought you just meant that some of the audience would be younger people.

What I would give to hear a festival full of English learners getting their tongues around "I see a little silhouetto of a man, Scaramouche, scaramouche, will you do the fandango" etc.

Thank you for your comments! Most of the audience are going to be youngsters studying English, so I wanted a simple song known to many teenagers, but not rock or something, some song good for "academic" purposes. I imagine we all stand up, sing it together, wave our hands to each other and say good-bye. It could be some very easy to remember song, so that everyone could sing it (together with those pupils singing on the stage). "The more we arew together, together, together... the happier we'llbe", perhaps, but it's too simple.) " And "We are the Champions" is not very easy to sing in chorus (the whole song).

YMCA (song and hand movements)
Saturday Night (song and dance routine)
Ten Green Bottles (!)
Yellow Submarine

I'm really having trouble thinking of a song that isn't "rock/pop" but also isn't a childish nursery rhyme.
