1. Add this item in your report.

Is this grammatically correct?

No. We add something to something else.

Does this not work? See the usage of add it in.

This also shows that “add this in” is used frequently

We normally add things to a list, report, paper.

But you can say “add this in other sections” or “add this in an upcoming update” just like the examples mentioned in the links provided above?

If you're going to finish your sentence with a preposition (in this context), then "in" would work because finishing with "to" would be incorrect.

A: I looked at the list. Where's the information about the meeting?
B: Sorry! I'll add it. ✅
B: Sorry! I'll add it to the list. ✅

Thanks. Do you mean it is wrong to say “add this in other sections” or “add this in an upcoming update” just like the examples mentioned in the links provided above?

"... add this to" is more natural in both those examples.

Note that "to add in" is a [phrasal] verb, so your examples above would read "add this in in other sections" and "add this in in an upcoming update".

Is it still possible to use though or is it grammatically incorrect?

"Add it to"

"Put it in"

That's what you should learn from this.
