Hello!

I'm looking for the word to describe a small abacus.

Welcome to the forum. :hi:

Why do you think we have a specific word for such a thing? As far as I know, we would just say "a small abacus".

Please note that in future, there is no need for a greeting at the start of your posts. Just go straight in with your question. Also, please don't thank us in advance. You can thank us after we help you, by clicking on the "Thank" button in the bottom left-hand corner of any post you find helpful. If you can't see it, or the Like button, yet, they should appear after you have made ten public posts.

I've found "abaciscus", but in only one online dictionary it has that meaning. It means tessera too.

I think you'll probably find that we have so little need to refer to an abacus at all in the 21st century that, even though there might be a word for such a thing, we probably don't know it.

I believe abacuses are still used by millions of children and adults every day in some parts of the world.

Learningwords, perhaps you could try posting a picture of the things you're talking about, just so we're completely sure we understand what you mean.

I wasn't suggesting that they're not used elsewhere but, here in the UK, we have no need to refer very often to a normal-sized (whatever that is) abacus, so we are very unlikely to have a word for a small one.
