If you only had been lyrical
But you're logical
And it's making you sore
When I talk metaphors
[...]

If you only had been curious
Not so serious
But your grammar is right
And your structure is strong
And nothing belongs
(official lyrics)

OR (when sung, which makes less sense to me with 'but' there, but anyway):

If you only had been curious
Not so serious
And your grammar is right
But your structure is strong
And nothing belongs

What does 'nothing belongs' refer to? That even though you're so logical, good with words, you can't embrace what's going on because those measures don't always apply?

Nothing. Or, if you prefer, everything is out of place, wrong.

You've actually made me laugh. Your answer's so concise and spot-on that it's just wrong. Now I'm embarrassed I even asked. ;-)

The short answer is "who knows". You can explicate the text to come up with some kind of hypothesis about the meaning... but who knows. It's poetry. Could mean anything or nothing.
