Is "apart from that" or "otherwise" the better choice below?


The chairman of the board of directors shall be elected by the general meeting of shareholders. Apart from that, the board of directors shall constitute itself.

Is there perhaps another expression that would fit?

The idea of the board constituting itself sounds very strange to me, but I found it in Webster's Third so let it stand.

I would say:

With the exception of the chairman of the board of directors, who shall be elected by the general meeting of shareholders, the board of directors shall constitute itself.
